Citizen Science: The Heart of What We Do At Tranquilo Bay, citizen science is more than a taskāitās a mindset. In 2024, it shaped how we explore, educate, and engage. Through daily excursions, we contribute to platforms like eBird and iNaturalist, building a living catalog of the biodiversity surrounding us. This year, we submitted 814 eBird checklistsāa 24% increase from 2023ādocumenting 497 bird species, up 11% from the previous year. These records arenāt just numbers but data points supporting global conservation efforts. But our impact doesnāt stop there. We worked alongside visiting scientists, participated in community-based monitoring, and facilitated **local exchange programs** that brought conservation leaders, students, and citizens from Bocas del Toro and beyond. Education is central to it allāwhether weāre training new birders, mentoring local youth, or guiding international guests through Panamaās ecosystems.
